Additional questions about HL7 to add to documentation on wiki

In the HL7 message example on the HL7 page https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/HL7 it shows PV1, is that a mandatory field? or if we don't care if it's a visit we can not have it as part of the HL7 message?

If we have an EVN section, will that create an encounter?

Re: Additional questions about HL7 to add to documentation on wiki

From a quick peek at the code, I don't think we look at the EVN section at all. The only thing we do (with an ORU-R01) is create an encounter based on the PV1 (with obs based on the OBXs).

Regarding your other question, the only code I see in the handler that deals with attributes at all is that if you do a "discharge to" it will look for a "Health Center" attribute. So no, it's not currently possible to set a cellphone person attribute via an hl7 message.
